Can Shingles Occur A Few Days After The Shingles Vaccination Has Been Taken?

ok, my PCP wants me to get the shingles vaccine at Walgreens. I am 64 and in good health, but getting over a cold at this time. I knew a doctor once (both my daughter and sister are RN s) that got shingles 3 days after the vaccine. Will this happen to me?

Hi,

I have to reassure you that this is a very rare event and most likely unrelated to vaccination.

Vaccination may indeed result in the development of rash close to the vaccination site but this not something to worry about. Although every vaccine and every treatment may have side effects, this vaccine is considered to be safe enough to be recommended to the general population (adults den than 50 years).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Panagiotis Zografakis,
