Can Smell In Urine Along With Cloudy Appearance Be Pregnancy?

Hi, my name is Janika Raspberry. I am 21 years old and I was a virgin until my fiancé and I had sex Saturday and he didn't use a condom. He pulled out every time he was about to ejaculate but I still fear of the possibility of me being pregnant. I went online and looked up possible signs of being pregnant but I still don't understand. I also went on this site about pregnancy signs and ovulation and when I am most fertile but I didn't understand it one bit. My only worry is My urine seems to be cloudy looking and it has a strong smell to it. are those signs of being pregnant?

Hi,
I understand your problem. First let me address the issue of cloudy urine and strong smell. This is most likely due to urine infection that are common in people beginning sexual life. This is called honeymoon cystitis. I would advise a urine examination to look for infection and then you may need antibiotics like nitrofurantoin. Also drink plenty of water to flush away the bacteria.

Now about the signs of pregnancy and chances of being pregnant. You must understand that the most fertile period for a female when there are more chances of getting pregnant is from day 12-18 of the first day of menses.

For example if a women has menstrual bleeding beginning on the 1st of January, her most fertile days would be from 12-18 January provided that she has a regular 28 days cycle meaning she menstruates every 28 days. If she menstruates every 30 days, add 2 days to the fertile period that is day 14-20 would be most fertile and so on. The chances of pregnancy are low but not zero for the rest of the days. Hence we advise to use protection every time.

You must calculate if the time of contact was in the fertile period. If yes, the chances of pregnancy are more. If it has been less than 72 hours since contact, you can use emergency contraceptive pills [plan B].

The earliest sign of pregnancy usually do not appear before the date of the next expected period. The period is usually missed or there is very little bleeding called implantation bleed. There is nausea, vomiting , some women have increased frequency of passing urine. These are the commonest symptoms.

I suggest you get a urine pregnancy test done if you miss your period preferably 7 days after the period is missed to rule out pregnancy.

Lastly, the chances of pregnancy from single sexual act are very low and also if semen is not deposited inside they are lower still. So most probably you are safe.
Hope this helped. Thanks for using HCM.
