Can Sore Neck Be Caused By Strand Muscle?

Hi after a friend playing with my 4 uear nephew he started complaining of a very sore neck he can t look side to side or up and down his neck also appears to be longer on on side the other ... shorter side being the injured side I thought it was perhaps a strand muscle .. should I be concerned and seek medical attention?

Hi,

Yes, it can be stranded muscle or spasm caused by abnormal movement. Sometimes, bruise or muscular injury may cause swelling etc.

Using warm compresses, flexing the neck and massaging it when muscles are in relaxed posture, along with local application of capciasin may be helpful. Using OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen along with muscle relaxants like Tizanidine or Orphenidine may be needed.
