Can Sore Throat Be A Symptom Of Carcinoma?

Hi Doc,
14 Days back I started suffering from Sore Throat. I consulted doc and he said Its a case of Pharyngitis and gave Cefixime with Cetrizen kind of Medicine. However its not been cured and now I am coughing with Itchy Throat and the color of Cough is yellow. Mild pain is there in Left Ear and I can see left Tonsil is being enlarged somewhat. I am a smoker, freaking out about Carcinoma. Please help!!!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have you have sorethroat, cough which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection/ flu. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit general physician once and get it examined. It does not seems to be carcinoma. You should go for blood tests and X-ray chest and start treatment after proper examination. Take cough expectorants daily. You should take combination of antibiotic such as Amoxicillin along with antiinflammatory medicatiom. Avoid intake of outside food and cold beverages. You should take paracetamol and do tepid sponging if fever is high. Avoid oily, spicy and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids.
