Can Sore Throat Or Tonsillitis Be Due To STD Or HIV?
Hello. The first time I had sex, I performed oral sex on my girlfriend. The same night. I had a severe sore throat or tonsilitos. I wondering if it could be HIV or another STD? I wasn't quite recovered from my ear infection and my sore throat before, but it got worse that night. Can you give me a answer please.
For any STD there is a time to manifest and it is called as incubation period. Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Herpes Simplex are STDs and can cause throat infection. Incubation period for Gonnorrhea is the shortest (3-5 days) and for Chlamydia is around 3 weeks and HSV manifest with tiny grouped ulceration. But you developed sore throat on the same day of your oral sex with your girl friend. You also had the history of throat infection prior to the incident. Moreover transmission of STD through oral sex is rare. So your throat infection is unlikely to be due to STD causes and might be due to non STD organism. Consult your ENT surgeon and get well soon.
