Can Spinal Taps Cause Nerve Damage In Legs?

currently taking care of a dialysis dependant patient who has had several

L hip dislocations, approx 6 weeks ago she had a spinal tap to r/o meningitis. now she sits through and crys and crys because she has leg pain. She is currently receiving po methadone 10 mg before treament

as well as a 25 mcg fentanyal patch. PRN fentanyl iv which we give her every treament. I have read that spinal taps can cause nerve damage in the legs occasionaly. any ideas
