Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The mayo clinic has found out that my husband is allergic to statins. He has very high CK, neuropathy in both calves and feet. His thighs ache and hurt most of the time. He has lost his balance and has difficultly walking and cannot stand for more then a few seconds. He is only 56 and has always been extremely active. This has been devastating. The neurosurgeons and neurologist say this has nothing to do with his back. Is this statin allergy reversible?

Can Statin Allergy Be Treated?
Hi, Myositis (inflammation of the muscles) is an important side effect of statins and we always keep an eye on this. This can cause severe pains and weakness and high CPK level is confirmation of it. Luckily this side effect is reversible by stopping the drug. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
