Can Stomach Flu Be Misunderstood As Appendicitis?

I went into the ER today for what I thought was appendicitis. They did and EKG and all was normal. Doctor told me it was just a bad stomach flu caused by a virus and needs to run it's course. She also said for me to be on a liquid diet for 24 hours. What does that mean? What can I drink?

Hi,
Acute appendicitis has typical pain on right lower abdomen with one point tenderness between umbilicus and right iliac crest.
Take light diet like milk, curd, rice, buttermilk, fruit juices etc.
Ok and take care.
