Can Subserosal Fibroid On Myometrium Be Left Untreated Till Menopause?

Hello Doctor I had an ultrasound done to check the endometrium lining on Day 13 of my period as I am peri-menopausal and previous finding had been 19mm. This time it was 7.1mm. They also found a subserosal fibroid on the left posterior of the myometrium 2.4 x 1.9 x 2 cms. I wonder if this can be left untreated till I am in full menopause, when due to lack of estrogen they may either decrease or go away? I ask this because my understanding is that laproscopic myometric surgery or medications can often be short lived treatments and fibroids can still recur. Also, I would not like to risk complications and possible infection post surgery if it can be avoided in a situation that does not necessarily require surgery. Over the past year my periods have become irregular and can com after 2 months or after 21 days and then it is a heavy flow for 4-5 days --but I have treated this as a sign of going into menopause...

Hello and Welcome to healthcaremagic forum!

Thanks for your Query.

Subserosal fibroids can be partially in the myometrium (muscle of the uterus) or hanging off the outside of the uterus. They can cause bulk symptoms such as bladder or rectal pressure.

So, unless there are no uneasy symptoms associated with the fibroid or your menstural cycle, then there's no problem, however I would recommend you to visit a good Homoeopathic Physician who can not only treat your fibroid but also see that it does'nt recur and you will have a problem free menopause.

Wishing you good health
