Can Substantial Lumps Of Tissue Coming From Vagina Indicate Lining Of The Womb?

Hello,
I recently started taking cilest mid cycle after a long break from the pill. I understood that extra precautions were necessary for 7 days which I adhered to. Once one packet had finished, I immediately started another pack back to back with no break. Now, with still a weeks worth of pills to take I am having a clotty, brown discharge and have been for 3 days.... There have been a couple of substantial lumps of tissue that have also come out in the bath.... Is this just the lining of my womb? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The lumps you notice with menstrual blood is the endometrial lining. Heavy bleeding can occur while taking birth control pills back to back. It is nothing to be worried about.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
