Can Surgery Cure Narrowing Neck And Fraying Shoulder?

i've had 2 MRI's at 2 different times. one showed narrowing of the neck and the other fraying of the shoulder. i am a letter carrier, so i'm sure it's job related. i've only been given pain killers but they don't seem to be working. would surgery be in my near future?
