Can Symptoms Of Cold And A Lump On Uvula Be Related To Tonsillitis?

Hi, I woke up yesterday feeling a bit of a cold coming on, I had a runny nose and was sneezing a lot. I went to bed last night and woke up with a very sore throat. Checked it out in the mirror and my tonsils are red, the right one is larger than the left and on the right one I have what looks like a white spot/lump. The bit that hangs down in the back of my throat, for want of a better word, looks gooey, like mucas on it. My throat hurt a lot this morning but has eased off as the day has gone on, although still painful. I feel all full of cold too. Could it be tonsillitis or is it just a cold?
