Can Taking Bystolic And Doxazosin Cause Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

Can 10 mg of Bystolic and 1 mg Doxazosin cause my bp to go to 120/53. I am only on Byatolic 3 weeks and the doxZOSIN 2 DAYS . I NEED MY GALLBLADDER REMOVED. BP WAS APPROX 166/76 AND AT TIMES HIGHER AT DRS VISIT. I FEEL THEY ARE BEING TOO AGGRESSIVE WITH THESE MEDS. Pain cause my bp to go up. thank you

Hi,

I have read your query, first of all, let me explain the actions of two tablets:
1) Doxazosin- its a selective alpha blocker, it used to decrease the blood pressure, also helps in relieving urinary retention in case of conditions like prostate enlargement.
2) Bystolic- its Nebivolol it reduces your blood pressure by blocking the beta receptors.

Taking both will cause "hypotension" (lowering of blood pressure and not hypertension). In your case the blood pressure keeps raising even after this means other pathologies that can trigger high blood pressure has to be ruled out or different medications can be tried, I will prefer trying an ARB instead of those two drugs. Here are a few things you can do.
1) Reduce salt intake.
2) Reduce stress.
3) Mild to moderate workout.
4) Increasing BP during doctors visit is called as white coat hypertension it occurs to all of us due to anxiety.
5) Speak to your doctor for a different medication which may lower your blood pressure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Moses John Wesley,
