Can Taking Duphaston Alter The Pregnancy Test Results?
Hello.I have irregular menses and i want to have a baby. So my doctor recommende me a treatment of clomid (50 mg) and duphaston (10 mg).On the prescription of gynae, i took clomid from day 2nd of menses (for 5 days), then we tried....and at day 16th of my cycle, i started taking duphaston (2 tablets er day) for 12 days. Its the third day since i completed my duphaston treatment and i performed a pregnancy strip test and found two bands,,one was darker and the other was relatively lighter....so my question is whether it is an artifact of the treatment i am going through or it can be real pregnancy??

I understand your concern.
- You were given tab duphaston to support product of conception ( Embryo) in survival.
- Pregnancy test indicates HCG ( Human Chorionic GOnadotrophin ) which is a hormone produced fetus itself.
-The pregnancy test you had done was on 31st day of your menses. Looking at the medicinal plan & timing of sex I feel it's most likely to be correct.
- the lighter line might be due to too early testing. Urine pregnancy test is +ve after 8-10 days delay in periods.
* false positive tests are due to polluted urine sample/ errors in testing.
