Can Taking Epilim For Epilepsy Be Safe?

Hi, I was wondering whether anyone can help me. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in 2007 at the age of 17. The doctor prescribed me Epilim. The Epilim made me very tired and made me hungry 24/7 or I would crave foods all the time. It was really hard not to eat more than usual, but I stuck to my eating plan. Being an athlete, some days I would be training a few hours a day. I am 5'9" and weighed in at 121 pounds. I started picking up weight for no apparent reason. I went from 121 pounds, up to 182pounds. I was on the Epilim for six months, when the doctor put me on Epitec. The first few months I was quite hyper-active, then my body got used to it. Since then, I've experienced too many side-effects to even mention. I can't sleep, I would go for days without eating or having an appetite and even when I have something to eat, I would throw it up.

My big problem is that I am 20 years old now and I still have a very active lifestyle, but I've managed to drop down to 172 pounds and that is as far as I get. It is so depressing. I can't do the things I used to do physically. I am fit and train every single day of my life, but it is impossible to lose weight. A few people told me that they heard that some Epilepsy medications affect your thyroid, causing it to be under active or not active at all. I would like to know if this is in fact true?! If this is true, I would have to get some medication in order for me to lose some weight. My joints can't handle the weight anymore...

Please just help me, because I am really giving up now!!! I'm going crazy!!!
