Can Taking Metformin Be Safe For PCOD?

hi..few days back i got to know that i have PCOD..m trying to concieve from last 6 months...my doctor has prescribed metformin 250mg thrice a day after meal...i dont have diabeties and obesity problem..my weight is 51 kg...m really worried why i got PCOD ...? What are my chances to concieve..? am i getting the proper treatment..?
