Can Taking Metformin For Diabetes Lead To Weight Loss?

Hi Doctor. i was diagnosed as MODI diabetic before 8 yrs, docs advised me to take TAB.METFORMIN 850mg tds...i been taking it so long,and my weight reduced from 115 kgs to 90 kgs..and i felt very free and very healthy....now again for the past 6 months i gained weight to 100kgs,no i feel bad abt it,and dont feel light and healthy like before and because of my profession i couldnt go for a walk even, before i was walking much as i know thats the reason for my weight loss....now would you help me to reduce my weight without much of exercise or may be you can advise me with some good diets....well, im worried much because my blood sugar was totally in control when i lost weight, now its not so.....

Dear sir, Metformin helps in reducing weight. that's what happened in your case in the beginning. Now regarding diet follow the guidelines.

* Avoid single high concentrated meals.
* Small frequent meals more times in a day.
* Food high in fibre content like vegetables, whole pulses, fruits, etc.

Take more
* Salads (cucumber, tomato, onion, raddish, salad leaves).
* Vegetables (cabbage, baigan, lady fingers, french beans, methi, palak).
* Fruits (except banana, chockoo or mangoes).
* Sprouted beans and pulses.
* Marie biscuit (with less sugar).
* Clear soups, Lemon juice, Buttermilk .
