Can Taking Methotraxate Injections Be Safe For Rheumatoid Arthritis?

hi, i am suffering from rheumatoid arthiritis for nearly two years. initially, i hv been advised to take steroids which i was very much comfortable to overcome pain. now, my consultant rheumatologist advised me to reduce steroids and advised IM of methotraxate inj every week. but it evokes no response and i am sufferring from severe pain in my knees, fingers, shoulder joints. pl advise me.
