Can Taking Bath During Menstruation Cause Sickness?

my classmate told me that her aunt got an operation because of taking a bath during menstruation, so now when my classmate had a menstruation, she doesn't take a bath until her period stops. Is it true that taking a bath during menstruation can make us sick? please give some explanation. thanks!
