Can Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome Be On One Side Of Jaw?

Can a person have TMJ on ONLY one side? This seems unlikely but my jaw soreness started right after I had root canal.....HOWEVER the jaw soreness is on the OPPOSite side that I had the root canal! :( Do I need a referral to treat or could I try to treat it myself at home.

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The TMJ disorder can occur on one side or both the sides depending upon the load or trauma applied over the joint.
The TMJ soreness can be secondary to root canal treatment, if you would have kept your mouth open wide for long time. Nothing to be panic, you can take analgesic like piroxicam and muscle relaxants like chlorzoxazone(if you are not allergic). You can give hot fomentation over the joints.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
