Can The Change In Altitude Cause Me To Miss My Period?
I go to college in Florida and I just came home for the summer back in Colorado. Can the change in altitude cause me to miss my period? I was due for my period last week. I had a couple cramps early in the week but no real period. I am sexually active but I am on birth control and we always use a condom. Should I be concerned that I am pregnant, or is it just the change in altitude?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Change in altitude is known to cause irregularities in menstrual cycle. You should be sure of a nonpregnant state, if you had no unprotected sex last month. You can check it with home pregnancy test after 8 days delay in period date.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
