Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can The Pain In The Legs Indicate Lumbar Stenosis?
I have developed moderate/severe pain/ache in both legs and some discomfort in my hips (lessens when I sit down). I also have begun to walk with a different gait than usual...actually feels like right leg is a little shorter than left and it feels like I bounce up and down when I walk. I am 78 years old. I play golf 3 times a week but its been extremely hot and I have to watch dehydration (often cramp up at night) but the pain I m describing in my legs and lumbar area is different. I m suspicious that I may be developing lumbar stenosis. I am 5 8 weigh 170 lbs and on NO medications. I have been physically active all of my life but I think my pelvic girdle and lumbar region is wearing down. I get annual wellness physical every year and due for the next one in about a months. Your comments are appreciated. Larry
You should get your MRIlumbar spine done. The history and symptoms suggest this pain is secondary to Lumbar spine problem likely stenosis or spondylosis. Over the counter painkillers like Acetaminophen will help a lot.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
