Can The Use Of Ezetrol Cause Pain In Limbs?

I have been prescribed Esetrol because I could not tolerate statins. They made me increasingly unable to exercise due to the pain in my limb and my consequent inability to get a good bight s sleep. Unfortunately Esetrol makes me even more unable. Is this possible?

Hello. Good day. Thanks for writing to HCM. I am Dr Sarika and I will be answering your query today.
Both statins and ezetimibe are known to cause myalgia (muscle ache). Its one of their known side effects though in practice patients on ezetrol experience it to a very less extent. Both are good drugs for LDL cholesterol reduction. Statins are more potent. So you need to stop both medications and start another agent for it. Unfortunately, there are not many agents useful other than statins and ezetrol. You can try something called BIochol which is a red yeast rice extract 1 capsule twice a day. Its natural and useful though not approved in the US.
Wishing you good health.
Warm regards.
