Can Thyroid Nodules Cause Painful Stretch Around Jawline?
Hello, I have a heavyness and sometimes painfull "pulling" feeling just under my left ear near my jaw line (probably over 6 months now). My ear sometimes has pain also. The gland in my neck on the left side doesn't seem larger to the touch than the gland on the right side. I have been diagnosed with nodules on my thyroid, but the last visit about 4 months ago showed that the nodules were getting smaller. The doctor said that these nodules were most likely causin the pain. My next dr's appt is in July to check the nodules. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and make an appt before then.
Hello Thyroid nodules seldom cause pain, especially as you say the nodules were getting smaller. You describe no swollen lymph nodes on the side of the ear discomfort. The pain you are experiencing is likely coming from the ear (otitis media or wax build up) or from the face (tempomandibular joint disease or trigeminal neuralgia). Would suggest you get a check up to determine the cause of the discomfort. I hope this information is helpful.
