Can Thyroiditis Cause Sore Throat Along With Pain And Congestion In The Ears?

Hi I had sore throat and ear pain 5 days ago. I went to the doctor to check, my ears were fine and no strap throat. The sixth days I have my ear clogged and pain in my throat.i am taking ibuprofen and amoxicillin. Still in pain .need an advice please. Just want to mention I had thyroditis this winter. Do u think it’s thyroditis again.thank you

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It may be suffering from acute pharyngitis with Eustachian tube block it may be due to Infection or allergy etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Avoid cool drinks and frozen water. Avoid smoking and alcohol intake.

Use decongestant medication like Xylometazoline nasal spray.

Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
