Hello--I am set to have my thyroid removed next week as I have a non functioning large nodule on the left. Needle biopsy was inconclusive as to if the nodule is cancerous. Just had pre op blood tests and my liver enzymes have elevated. AST was 105 one day and 46 the next. ALT was 142 one day and 101 the next. Both were in the 20's in 2010. Had liver ultrasound and hepatitis blood tests and all negative. Now that I am thinking about what is new since 2010, the only think I can think of is that my thyroid issue is affecting my liver enzymes. will pose this to my PCP on Monday--she was on vacation this week and had someone subbing in. I did not call my endocronologist but maybe should have. Thoughts? Monica I am 57 yrs. 5'4" 127 lbs. good medical health. Past history of ulcerative colitis but no flare ups in over 25 years. Have bi-annual colonoscopy
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF YOU HAD SEND ME THE THYROID FUNCTION TEST REPORTS AS WELL..
AS HYPOTHYROIDISM CAN CAUSE DERANGED LIVER ENZYMES AND ALSO CAN BE ASSOCIATED WITH EXTRAINTESTINAL MANIFESTATION OF ULCERATIVE COLITIS.
I ADVISE YOU TO PERFOEM A BILIRUBIN AND FRACTION AND S. ALBUMIN LEVELS AND ALSO CONSULT UR ENDOCRINOLOGIST FOR THE SAME BEFORE GOING THROUGH THE SURGERY
HOPE I ANSWERED YOUR QUERY. YOU CAN MESSAGE ME FOR ANY FURTHER CONCERNS
