Can Tiredness And Under Active Thyroid Be Due To Renal Failure?

My mom 95 years young have been complaining of tireness since mid-February. Blood tests showed stage 4 renal failure and lazy thyroid. We don t have the lab results back from last month. She continues to urinate 3 times a day, fairly yellow. As of Thursday she was too weak to stand. We realized part of the problem was a shortage of iodine, she doesn t use salt. I read iodine shortage is what causes the thyroid to be underactive, leading to tiredness. She eats organic produce and home cooked chicken except for an occasional Subway chicken sandwich. With all this said, is the renal failure also a culprit of her tireness and inability to stand?

You do not have the results yet but TSH should be considered as normal even if it is 7 or 8, if it is higher than treatment should be started.

The stage 4 renal disease is more probable to be the cause of her symptoms, as it is associated with a lot of complications.

Hope the information will help.

Kind regards,
