Can Tooth Be Extracted While On Zoledronic Acid For Multiple Myeloma?

I last had zoledronic acid 4 mg iv in May 2014 for multiple myeloma, when it was stopped because my serum calcium levels were normal. Before stopping I had zoledronc acid 4mg Iv monthly for 2 months only. Now I have a broken molar tooth with a clean cavity. The dentist said it has to come out and I should not have zoledronic acid during the next 3 months. 1. Am I to go ahead with the tooth extraction by the dentist. 2. Should I get the tooth extracted in a hospital environment .

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You are taking zolendroic acid for multiple myeloma. Now you have broken tooth. You should go for tooth extraction. According to my opinion you should go for tooth extraction in multi speciality hospital. It will help to manage other complications also.
Consult your doctor and plan accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

Oncologist Dr. Monish De's  Response
I would advise you to do a pet scan.

You can stop zoledronic acid for 1 month and go ahead with your tooth extraction.
