Can Transvaginal Ultrasound Test Give Accurate Pregnancy Results?

Hi Dr. Yesterday I visited my OB undergo into an ultrasound. There is no sac found and previously had a negative pregnancy test. He told me that I must wait for few days because the lining we re thickened and subject for menstruation. Do you think that transvaginal ultrasound is accurate enough to distinguish if there is a baby or none?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The transvaginal ultrasound would normally be considered accurate to diagnose pregnancy.

Pregnancy tests detect the HCG hormone that is released with increasing amounts as pregnancy progresses.
Most tests can detect this hormone by day 11 to 14.

If the pregnancy test was done after this time period then it is likely accurate.

I hope this helps
