I'm age 54 & was dx'ed w/ out of control BG 7 months ago. With exercise, better diet & daily 1600 mg's metformin, my BG has averaged 120-160. I also have fibromyalgia, spinal degeneration, sleep apnea & am obese (244 lbs, 6 feet tall).
But my question is more general - can type 2 diabetes cause death?
Dear sir i can understand your concern in my opinion the blood sugar control for you is very good and i suggest you to follow same treatment with exercise and diet control. i suggest you to check hba1c% for better estimation of blood sugars. then regarding your query Diabetes might cause death in case of severe negligence. for example blood sugar reaching 500 mg/dl not taking any treatment might go in to dehydration and cardiovascular problems. but with increase of present day technology and better medical facilities such kind of casualties are very very rare in developed and developing countries.
Diabetes can lead to cardiovascular problems if left uncontrolled for long time. regards
