Can Ulnar Nerve Surgery Cause Gouty Arthritis?

hi my hubby along with menieres and lyphedema now has been tested and told he could have gout arthritus is this serious and treatable he had a op for ulner nerve in effected arm 5 months ago could this be the cause and can he work with these ilnesses he is very depressed due to never been off work since the age of 15 now at 58 he feels like hes on scrap heap
