Can Umbilical Hernia Cause Discomfort And Pain In Lower Abdomen?

I woke up this morning with something that feels like gas pain and heartburn. I have an umbilical hernia that I ve had from birth and have had no problems with it. I have an abdominal diastasis from carrying/delivering babies. I feel like pain goes from my lower abdomen radiating up to my clavicles. If I press on my umbilicus, I can hear a bubbly squishy sound and my abdomen appears distended. It hurts me all day and is not affected by meals. Any thoughts? I already take omeprazole for heartburn. Thanks!

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

An umbilical hernia can increase in size due to increase in the size of the umbilical defect.
Sounds heard from the abdominal area can be due to the movement of food and water in intestine since the intestinal loop can slip into the umbilical hernia through increasing defect.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
