Can Unprotected Sex During Menstruation Lead To STD?

Hello my name is Chris and my girlfriend and I have been intimate for quite some time now. And this is to say that on occasion we'd have unprotected sex. Now, one of the most recent time of intimacy, we had unprotected sex while she was "kind of heavy" during her menstrual period. I do know that any form of intercourse can bring about STD's/HIV. My inquiry is, am I or both of us at a greater risk of infection from this one time experience of unprotected period sex? Mind you we both are negative and they're have been times when we had unprotected sex, but I would say more often than not, we use condoms. And for clarification I am a 20 yr old male and she is a 21 yr old female. Thanks for taking the time to answer and assist me with this inquiry.

Welcome to HCM
As per you history,you and your girlfriend are negative,but you people had unprotected sex sometimes.
There is definitely increased risk of infection from STD from having unprotected sex during menstruation because of bleeding during the periods.
So i would suggest you both to get tested for STD once more,after this event.
Also,i advice you to use contraception everytime when you have sex.
