Can Use Of Topical Steroid Cream Cause Elevated TSH Level In Blood?

I have elevated thyroid 5.18....I have used low dose steroid cream on a skin graft to help it heal..on my head...off and on for for last8 months....also on 2 occasions..3 week treatments of a chemo cream to kill early basal cell lesions on my face.....could. these meds cause the thyroid count to rise?

Hi,

If you do not have symptoms related to hypothyroidism(like cold intolerance, constipation, menstrual irregularities(not sure of your sex) etc, a TSH value of 5.18IU/ml is not something to be worried about. Also, topical steroids can not cause elevated TSH levels. Stay relaxed.
