Can Using Headphones Lead To Numbness And Muffled Hearing? Should I Suspect Earwax Against Eardrum?

Hi,
last night I had headphones on(but not the ones that go into your ears), and was leaning my hands on them. When I took my headphones off, my left ear felt extremely weird. It felt like it was slightly numb in and around it, and it felt blocked, and my hearing was a little muffled.
I panicked and went into the bathroom and tried to fix it by using a cotton swab, which I now know you are not meant to do, and then we tried using a syringe to see if that would remove anything that might be inside it. I went to sleep and nothing has changed. What do you think is the most likely thing that is happening to me? Could it just be earwax against my eardrum or worse?

Hello,
Hearing loud music either with ear phones or music systems are potential to cause damage to the eardrums.
The louder the music, the more the eardrum vibrates.
Regular intense vibrations can stretch the eardrum to a point that it ceases to function properly.
Normally, temporary damage can result after listening to loud music for a non-specific duration.
An individual who has been affected by a temporary hearing loss will have a reduced hearing sensitivity.
Temporary hearing loss clears on its own, especially following proper sleep. However, further exposure to loud music can result into permanent loss of hearing.
Damaged eardrums can also result into a condition referred to as tinnitus. Tinnitus simply refers to a ringing sensation that is felt inside the ears.
Usually, tinnitus heals after sometime without any medical intervention. Repeated episodes of tinnitus can result into permanent loss of hearing.

Please do the pure tone audiometry and confirm whether you have any hearing loss.
There may be a dip in 4000hz in audiomety in case of early hearing loss.
If you have, then it is better to avoid wearing headphones for music and sound.

Hope this helps.

Wishing you good health.
