Can Using Of Melacare Forte And Faceclin Gel On Face Be Stopped Suddenly?
Hello Doctor,
I'm a 20 year old girl from India. I have been using Melacare forte cream on my face at night everyday and Faceclin gel during the day for the last 3 years as prescribed by my physician . My facial skin has got an excellent glow, it looks fair and beautiful and soft. But since melacare contains steroid stuff I don't want to continue with it anymore. So I want to know whether I straight away stop using applying and start putting normal cosmetic cream on my face or do I have to apply some other medicated cream before I switch to the usual cosmetic cream ?PLEASE HELP

Melacare forte cream should not be used for more than 2-3 months and that too without the supervision of a doctor for fear of steroid related side effects like Acne, Photosensitivity, Skin thinning and Telangiectasia, Facial hair growth,specially troublesome in females.
I would advice that you discontinue the cream right away.
Use a broad spectrum sunscreen, which offers both UVB and UVA protection throughout the day.
You can use a cream containing one or more of the following ingredients like kojic acid, glycolic acid, arbutin for a fairer complexion. They are safe for long term use as compared to melacare.
