Can Visible Blood In Urine Come From Vagina?

I am a 48 year old woman. I was treated for a urinary tract infection two months ago. I had visible blood in the urine at the time and was told to come back in about 6 weeks for another test (because of the blood). I came back 2 weeks later and the doctor detected slight, non-visible blood. I was told to wait 6 weeks and have another test. My question is, is it possible the blood is coming from my vagina (I am peri-menopausal and often have slight streaking in my vaginal mucus). Could I take the test with a tampon in, in order to get a non-contaminated urine test? Also, is it possible my Ibuprofen use could be causing me to bleed? I stopped the Ibuprofen when I had the abnormal test. I am getting ready to schedule another urine test and I'd like to get the most accurate results. Thanks.
