Can Wearing Crocs Cause Itchy Red Rashes In The Feet?

Hi I hav a very itchy, irritated rash on the tops of both my feet. I’ve had the rash for about 2 weeks now, starting after a trip to my cottage and continuing though time volunteering at a summer camp. I wear crocs so feet are in wet plastic sometimes. Just today I have now noticed the rash on my big toe on my right foot, this one stings more than itches. It feels bumpy and and is red and looks almost like scabs

Hello,

Seems you could be having allergic contact dermatitis to rubber in footwear. I suggest you to use a topical steroid and antibiotic combination cream e.g clobetasol propionate 0.05% and mupiricin 2% cream, twice daily. In addition I suggest you to take an oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine for symptomatic relief from itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Kakkar S., Dermatologist
