Can White Patches On Throat Be Symptom Of Ear Infection?

I had an earache for about a week, It has subsided some after laying on a heating pad for a week. and I started 500 mg of amoxicillin twice a day for ten days yesterday and today I noticed two white patches on my throat. Are the white patches a symptom of the ear infection?

hi.... white patches in throat are not suggestive of ear infection. but suggestive of throat infection which can cause referred pain in ear due to same nerve supply in throat and to ear. you might have developed membranous tonsillitis which needs immediate attention. if you are an adult your amoxicillin dose is inadequate. you will have to start with amoxicillin+clavulanic acid 625 three times a day for 7 days, tab flagyl 400mg three times a day for 7 days and gargles. you should also get a throat swab examination done as it can be membrane over tonsil and throat.
