Hi. We recently got a newly-licensed yoga instructor in our evening class. I had no trouble with the previous instructor. I should mention that I am 61 and have osteopenia. I am 5'2", 140 lbs, and do yoga 2x a week. I have been on Actonel for 7 years now. This year I had 2 falls which fractured ribs on both sides (each from a separate fall). A couple of weeks ago I developed pain in my right foot, which became severe over time. I went to an osteo. physician, and he diagnosed it as a stress fracture. I should mention that the new yoga teacher did her standing poses by flipping from right to left, which initially caused the pain to occur. When I look up stress fractures caused by yoga, it doesn't give me any pertinent answers. I also should mention that I have been in yoga for 8 years. This is the first instructor I have had that does her standing poses in this manner.
What do you think? Can yoga be a cause of stress fractures? Thank you for your time and opinion(s).
