Can You Explain The Scenario Of Liver Biopsy Glycogen N Others?

i jst wanna get the solution of a scenario in wch a child with complaints of frequent crying specially in the morning with occasional loss of consciousness is brought to a hospital. on physical examination he was found to have HEPATOMEGALY. child's condition improves on feeding at regular intrvals. his serum URIC ACID,CHOLESTEROLE,LACTIC ACID were high and in liver biopsy GLYCOGEN was deposited in hepatocytes,,, plz tell me something about this case because i m a 2nd year MBBS student and tomorrow is my case scenario..

A child with deposition of glycogen in the hepatocytes suggests presence of glycogen storage disease.
Glycogen storage disease is a group of diseases caused by defect in the enzymes involved in the metabolism of glucose.
Liver in involved commonly in glycogen storage disease called Von Gierke disease.
Glycogen can deposit in other organs like heart and in that case it is called Pompe's disease.
Deposition of glycogen leads to dysfunction of that particular organ.
You have mentioned that the child improves on feeding.
This is because glucose is supplied to the child and he improves.
The glycogen which is deposited in the hepatocytes cannot be broken down into glucose for utilization.
