Canine Crowns Redone Many Times, Sensitivity Around Gumline. Problem With Dentist?

Sensitivity of teeth after crown preparation is a common occurence but as you have mentioned that even after the placement of the new crowns (assuming that the margins are proper) it persists and is severe then the only option you have is a root canal. if there is an exposed area around the teeth not covered by the crown causing sensitivity and its not severe then placing a desensitizing agent may help. pls consult your dentist on that.

The tooth tend to get sensitive after the tooth is prepared for crown. However after placement of crown the sensitivity should have reduced. If you are an young individual then your pulp chambers would be larger and hence after tooth preparation, there would be very little tooth structure remaining between pulp and crown. This might cause sensitivity. If this is the cause then it would be better for you to go for root canal treatment. Exposed tooth surfaces after crown placement can also result in sensitivity. This can be managed to some extent by desensitizing agents, but sensitivity may keep recurring. There is no harm in taking a second opinion regarding your problem with another dentist

You may be experiencing sensitivity in the gums because of cement stuck below the gum line. When a crown is cemented, excess cement comes out from under the crown, sometimes this gets lodged in the gums and may come out by itself or through scaling by a hygienist. The other issue might be that you have the bone too close to the margin of the crown and you need to get a crown lengthening procedure because your body is recognizing the crown as a foreign material and is responding with chronic inflammation. The margin might also be bulking and is appyling pressure to the gingiva which needs to be smoothed down. Best best would be to floss daily, brush at least twice daily and give it time. If it does not resolve in a few weeks go to the dentist and present the concern to him. If he does not find the source or give you an answer to the cause, I would recommend getting a second opinion by another dentist.

since the crown is redone twice,and since you continue to have sensitivity around the gum line. Try applying a desensitising tooth paste in and around that region. Especially before you sleep at nite .apply it with ur fingers. Ontinue using this for 3 weeks and see the reults. . .You can use medicated tooth paste like shy nm, or thermoseal r.a, or you can use vantage tooth paste. .,Try one of these and let us know

Getting sensitivity in teeth after being prepared for crown placement is very natural phenomenon which happens with almost every patient except those who have undergone Root canal treatment.

If sensitivity persist even after crown has been redone second time, then try using any good anti-hypersensitivity tooth paste to locally apply on the exposed part of the tooth at gum line.

You can even go for application of Anti-hypersensitivity gel under dentist's supervision which can be repeated by dentist at particular period of time.

But if this does not solves the problem, take second opinion & go for Root canal treatment, which definitely will cut off the pain of that particular tooth.

Don't use antibiotics as they carry no role in such conditions.

hi, basically this is a common problem with crowns , food gets lodged under the crown at the gum tooth junction. You need to use a fine interproximal brush to gently clean the area at the gum margin under the crown also rinse with warm saline water 2-3 times daily (1 tsp salt in 1 glass water). As for the sensitivity use a good sensitivity toothpaste like sensodyne apply on affceted area , leave for 5 minutes and then brush normally, you will feel the releif within 2 weeks.

sensitivity is a common finding in case of toothpreparation for crown cutting.
this due to exposed dentin and dentinal tubules which are closely situated to vital pulp tissue of teeth.
usually sensitivity lasts when crown has placed.
but in your case,the tooth preparation has done involving more tooth structure.
desensitising agents can be used to reduce sensitivity.
if the sensitivity persists,root canal treatment of the tooth and then crown preparation has to be done.
also get scaling done.
get your dentist's opinion regarding this.
use desensitising toothpaste like sensodent to brush your teeth.

I would like to tell you that experiencing sensitivity after crown cutting is a very natural process because while cutting dentinal tubules are exposed & even gingival margin is involved so its close to cementum.This continues till crown is placed & after crown placement you experience some pain till healing of gingiva,for which you are advised to do gum massage.But if you are still experiencing sensitivity then you should try some desensitizing toothpaste like sensodent-k toothpaste.
Still if problem persists then you might require Root Canal Treatment for getting it completely desensitized.
Consult your dentist for that case & start using sensodent-k paste meanwhile.

is the canine sensitive or all the teeth ? if the cap has been done two times , why did your dentist not do the root canal ? root canal relieves the tooth of any sensitivity , so ask your dentist to do it.
