Canine Has Been Decaying. Why Did It Begin To Hurt? Home Remedy?
My top right canine tooth has been decaying for a while and it started to hurt a few days ago and i tried salt water rinse and advil but now the gum above it is swollen but the tooth doesnt hurt anymore but there is doscomfort in my gum what do you think could get rid of this at home? i dont have dental insurance and im not a rich man

hello
the tooth is not hurting anymore because the nerves inside are dead, and the infection has progressed to tip of the root. with the details provided by you it looks like there is an abscess at the tip of the root, that is why you are having swelling in the gums. the treatment advised would be root canal treatment. you shouldn't have waited for so long after knowing that there is decay. if it was in initial stages just a simple filling would have been sufficient. anyways don't delay anymore, get the root canal treatment done before other complications develop. other option is removal of that tooth (which should be last option because canine is an important tooth and it being one of the front tooth will affect your looks if it is removed ).
Visit dentist at the earliest and start with the treatment.

it is a condition called as Priapical abcess formation. you have to get the root canal treatment or extraction of that tooth surely done otherwise can lead to serious painful conditions, as dental ailments are meant for treatment by procedure, not by medicine only.

thank you for writing in your query, as you stated that your canine is decayed, that surely gives an evidence that infection due to caries has now spread to the sorrounding tissue causing pain and swelling, i would recommend you to visit your dentist so that he can prescribe you antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication for a week, this will take care of the swelling as well as pain.
warm saline rinses won't help, use an antibacterial (betadine) mouth wash(3-4 times/day) for as week.
also avoid hot food /drinks, do not apply hot compresses over the swelling,

The swelling is due to a condition called periapical abcess. It happens when the decay/infection spreads to the nerve inside the tooth and even further, eventually causing a swelling due to pus accumulation in the gums. The tooth doesnt hurt because the tooth is dead and it has become chronic. I would strongly advice you to visit your dentist for either root canal or extraction of the tooth before there's a sudden flare up of the condition causing acute tooth pain and discomfort. Antibiotics and pain killers may reduce the infection temporarily but it will not the sove the problem.

According to your clinical history i suppose that you canine has undergone a periapical abscess, bacterial infection had spread to the periapical tissue leading to pain and swelling.
I would suggest you to visit the Dentist and get the checkup done take an x-ray of the tooth , depending upon which the treatment would be root canal treatment.
Take a complete course of antibiotics and analgesics.
Take antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.

hai..your decayed tooth must be treated at the earliest.or else it can affect your general health also.the tooth has to be filled after consulting a dentist.i don"t think pain will reduce with the use of any home-remedy.pain will reduce only if the decay or pus within the tooth has to be reduced.hope you will get well soon.
