Cause For The Scabies Which Looks Like Bug Bites?

I have had these bug bites come up on my body, but no bugs. Went to the docthat couldor yesterday he gave me that cream for scabies. He said that it didn't look like scabies I put it on last night still getting the things that look like bug bites. If not scabies then what could it be? Been going on for almost 3 months.

Hi,

It seems that you may be having lichen urticatus also called papular urticaria. It is a hypersensitivity to insects bite..like bed bug,flea,mosquitoes..etc. there may be severe itching and it take long time to be cured.you consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis. After thorough examination and investigations, he might come to the conclusion. I prescribe methyl prednesolone in tappering dose for few weeks to few months. Along with it, antihistaminics like hydroxyzine HCL 25 mg may be given till good result. Apply steroid cream. Take dettol bath,avoid soap at bath. You may be improved after few months.
