Cause Of Headache, Numbness In Arm And Memory Issues?

I have had a bleed on the brain, found after I was experiencing major headaches. It started shortly after hitting my head badly but doctors are not sure if that is what caused it or if I have a cavernoma. I have to wait until March for a neurologist to look at my scans and I keep getting bad pain which comes and goes - no pattern to it but it is extremely painful but only lasts a few seconds. Just wondering what it is and hoping it is not minor bleeds. I still have a bit of numbness in my right arm, some memory issues etc but I didn t visit the doctor when it happened and they didn t discover it until much later. It started in late September 2013/October and wondering when/if it would get better.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello,

Those episodes are not related to new bleeds, you can feel reassured about that. A bleed in the brain doesn't cause pain which comes and goes, it is persistent for days at least, doesn't go away in a few seconds.

So it is very unlikely to be related to new bleeding. Keep in mind that the chances of rebleed are very low for cavernoma.

Some headache episodes are common after a brain bleed. If they are frequent you might want to discuss with the neurologist the possibility of beginning preventive medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olsi Taka, Neurologist
