Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
From your history and description, I understand that you had folliculitis in your axilla. It is an infection of the hair follicle and is common in hairy areas.
The subcutaneous firm swelling after the active infection has subsided could be a swollen lymph node. The lymph glands draining the area of infection usually swell upas a reaction to the infection and can persist that way for a few weeks.
You could take a course of oral antibiotics like cloxacillin or cephalexin for 5 days so that the residual infection and the lymph node swelling completely subside.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
