Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I seem to have this problem, where time to time, I m breathing and either side of the front of my chest starts to hurt a little, and as I inhale the pain gets worse. Most times I either have to breath in as much as possible (the pain gets a lot worse before a sudden sharp pain that stops it for the time) or I have to hit my chest a bit to get over the pain... what s wrong??
Your history is more suggestive of a pleuritic pain wherein when you inspire(breathe in) you get chest pain. There are many causes of pleuritic pain like Pneumonia, Pleural effusion either bacterial or tuberculosis etc .Any history of fever, night sweats, weight loss, cough with productive or bloody sputum?

Chest Hurts Both Sides While Breathing, painful
Hi there, Your history is more suggestive of a pleuritic pain wherein when you inspire(breathe in) you get chest pain. There are many causes of pleuritic pain like Pneumonia, Pleural effusion either bacterial or tuberculosis etc .Any history of fever, night sweats, weight loss, cough with productive or bloody sputum? Another possibility is (musculoskeletal chest pain)costochondritis, which normally subsides with analgesics like brufen etc in 3-4 days. Yet another possibility is an apparent pain in the chest or chest tightness due to anxiety. I would suggest you consult a physician/pulmonologist to rule out causes in the lung or pleura(covering of the lung). Get well soon:)
