Hi,
From your history it seems that you might have costochondritis as it is related with movement of chest muscles and ribs.
As there is no cough and other symptoms related with smoking, it does not seem to be due to smoking.
As you do not have habit of smoking regularly, quit smoking.
For pain you may take NSAID tablet like Diclogesic as and when required.
Ok and take care.
