Chest Pain, Pain In Taking Deep Breath And Unable To Lift Weight After Getting Hit On Elbow. Is This A Serious Injury?

I'm having some chest pain. I play soccer and I was hit with an elbow last week. Everytime I take a deep breath the pain comes. I cant do any lifting or intense workouts at training. When should the pain go away? Is this a serious injury? I went to the doctor and he told me I only had some inflamation on my left chest muscle.
