This morning, when I woke up to my wife s alarm I felt a pain in the left side of my chest that was a quick stabbing pain that abated shortly thereafter. In my half awake stupper I remember hearing a bad record sound at the same time as the pain. After this I oriented myself and went back to sleep for about an hour before it was time for my alarm to go off. Here at work now I feel slightly short of breath, with occasional discomfort in my chest. When sitting down both do not bother me but walking around has been uncomfortable. I don t know if I am being paranoid or if I have just not had enough sleep lately. I am 27 years old, Male, 150 lbs.
There are many causes of pain in the chest. It could be because of affection of various structures like skin, bones, muscles, pleura, lungs, heart, oesophagus and nerves. Do you have many associated symptoms like fever, cough, breathing difficulty or any history of trauma. If it is not relieved with pain killers and local analgesic cream you should get a x ray done and consult a doctor.
Hi
Thanks for your query
From this history its very difficult to say if you are paranoid or not. But before coming to a diagnosis of a functional disorder its very necessary to exclude organic causes of your chest pain and shortness of breath. For that you need toc onsult a pulmonologist and get yourself locally examined and go through some investigations to exclude heart and lung causes of your chest pain and SOB like ECG, chest x-ray etc. If you are smoker its very essential to cut off its amount significantly if total quitting is not possible. Among the chest causes you should have to exclude pleurisy and precordial catch syndrome and among the heart causes ischemic heart diseases. If nothing is found then consult psychiatrist if the pain persists.
Thank you.
Hello and thanks for writing in
Chest pain or discomfort associated with shortness of breath on exertion has every region to get investigated for Coronary heart disease. Go to the ER immediately and get your EKG and heart enzymes done. You are overweight and it is a reason for CAD which you have explained in your query. Detailed history is needed for other risk factors.
Best Wishes
